Discovery Mode in Spotify for Artists gives artists and their teams the ability to influence the personalization algorithm in selected personalized areas. With Discovery Mode enabled, your songs are more likely to reach listeners in these contexts - but this is not a guarantee. You can switch Discovery Mode on or off for each eligible track.
For Spotify, it is important that the fan likes the music. Spotify takes into account if a song is not interacted with - both in Discovery Mode and in general - and adjusts the further recommendations accordingly.
No upfront budget is required for Discovery Mode. Instead, a commission of 30% is charged on the royalties generated from all streams of the selected songs in the Discovery Mode context - Spotify Radio and Autoplay. All other streams of the selected songs outside of Spotify Radio and Autoplay remain commission-free.
