In addition to the ad-supported YouTube platform, users can now participate in a paid membership letting them enjoy ad-free videos while still supporting creators. YouTube Red introduces a few interesting features:
- Ad-free videos. Paying users can watch videos without interruption.
- Save offline. Songs and videos can be saved and watched offline.
- Background play. Users can keep videos playing while using other apps or when the screen of their mobile device is off.
YouTube is also introducing YouTube Music. By signing in to YouTube’s new music app users will benefit from ad-free videos, audio-mode and the possibility to listen to music offline.
YouTube Red will be initially only available in the US but YouTube already plans to expand to additional markets soon.
