YouTube has recently acquired San Francisco-based start-up BandPage for 8 million US-dollar. The direct-to-fan online service help artists grow their fanbase and build their music career. Over 500,00 musicians (both stars and first-time users) have used the service so far. With the launch of YouTube Red in 2015, Google-owned video platform focused the attention on music and music fans, through the acquisition of BandPage YouTube will now improve its services for musicians. “We are very excited to announce that BandPage is joining YouTube”, BandPage wrote in a blog post. “A move which dramatically accelerates our shared goal of helping musicians everywhere thrive”.
